Numbat Foraging Near Glacial Stream Noon Light

Striped orange and grey fur contrasts against the pale, rocky bank of a rushing glacial stream. A numbat stands alert, its long snout lowered toward the damp earth as it hunts for termites. The sky above is a flat, washed-out white, pushing harsh, shadowless light across the wet season landscape. Low-hanging grey clouds press down on the distant hills, creating a heavy, overcast ceiling. A thick, leafy branch hangs from the upper left corner, framing the animal within a natural archway. The water churns with white foam, rushing past smooth, grey stones that reflect the dull midday glare. The animal's black tail stripes stand out sharply against the pale mud at its feet.
