Crumbling Manor Greenhouse Ruin in Ecuador

by Michaela Marin

Frost rests on the remaining shards of glass in the skeletal frame of a collapsed manor greenhouse, standing stark against the bright late-afternoon sun. The structure sits amidst a tangle of tall nettles and several toppled stone columns that lie scattered across the damp earth. Dry mountain light cuts through the empty rooms, illuminating dust particles that drift in the wind moving through the broken interior. The surviving panes glint with a sharp, icy texture, against the dark, weathered wood and crumbling masonry. Shadows stretch long across the overgrown ground, marking the edge where the stone meets the wild vegetation. One shard of glass rests on a fallen column, catching the final rays of the day.
