Sunset Glow on Glass Mountain Observatory
Orange low-angle sunlight floods the glass-walled structure of a mountain observatory perched near La Mariscal in Quito. The winter light strikes the transparent panels, creating sharp reflections against the stark, exposed metal equipment surrounding the building. Salt wind ripples across the dry ground, pushing dust and small debris against the base of the scientific instruments. The frame divides the view with the observatory occupying the right third, leaving the left side open to the rugged, windswept terrain. Bare branches of hardy shrubs stand motionless in the foreground, their gray tones against the warm amber glow on the glass facade. A cluster of cylindrical sensors rests on a metal platform, their surfaces gleaming under the fading daylight. at the edge is a thin wire stretching from a sensor to the ground, casting a precise, dark line across the gravel.
