Crown of Thorns Starfish Feeding on Coral Reef

Brilliant tropical light penetrates the clear blue water, illuminating a massive crown-of-thorns starfish anchored to a textured coral wall. Its long, spiny arms, colored in muted browns and oranges, extend over the rough, porous surface of the reef structure. Tiny suspended particles glitter throughout the water column, catching the late morning sun and creating a field of scattered sparks. The starfish remains motionless, its multiple tube feet gripping the rock beneath. Layers of depth recede behind the creature, fading from sharp detail in the foreground to a soft, hazy blue in the distance. A cluster of small white coral polyps rests directly beneath the central arm, highlighting the scale of the predator against the reef's intricate geometry.
