Crepuscular Ray Through Storm Clouds Lithuania in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads in Lithuania

Crepuscular Ray Through Storm Clouds Lithuania

by Isabel Malone

A sharp beam of pale daylight pierces the indigo twilight sky, cutting through a gap in a massive wall of stacked thunderheads. The steel-blue ambient light washes over the horizon, illuminating the turbulent texture of the storm clouds. Dark, heavy formations stack vertically, their undersides glowing faintly where the light strikes. The sky above remains a deep, saturated violet, against the brighter channel of the ray. Wind ripples the cloud edges, showing motion in the still image. The horizon line separates the churning sky from a dark, indistinct landmass below. A faint gradient of lighter blue marks the point where the sun has just dipped below the earth.
