Sun Rays Break Storm Clouds Colombia in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads in Colombia

Sun Rays Break Storm Clouds Colombia

by Lloyd Lyons

Fiery gold beams pierce the heavy gray mass of stacked thunderheads hovering over the Colombian horizon. The light cuts through a narrow gap in the dark storm clouds, illuminating the wet, textured surfaces of the rain clouds below. Deep indigo shadows pool between the towering cumulus formations, while the upper sky remains a crisp, cloudless blue. The sun sits low, casting long, warm rays that fade into the atmospheric haze of the rainy season. Layers of cloud density recede into the distance, showing vast depth. A thin edge of bright orange light traces the bottom of the nearest cloud, defining its heavy, water-logged shape against the darker sky.
