Wet concrete stretches into the distance beneath a heavy blue hour sky, flanked by massive lock chamber walls that guide toward a vanishing point. Thick hill fog rests on the mid-ground, obscuring the horizon while utility lights cast pools of artificial warmth on the slick pavement. The dry season leaves the surrounding hills bare and brown, against the cool gray of the infrastructure. Mist hovers just above the water's surface, blurring the boundary between the engineered channel and the natural landscape. Symmetrical lines of the lock walls converge sharply in the center, showing rigid order against the soft, drifting vapor.
