Chilean Mountain Road Dawn Overcast Landscape

Soft gray light blankets the rugged Andean slopes of Chile as a winding asphalt ribbon snakes through the high desert terrain. Late spring vegetation clings stubbornly to the reddish-brown earth, while wisps of white cloud drift low across the peaks. The road curves sharply around a rocky outcrop, its dark surface against the pale, wind-swept scrub. Mist hugs the valleys below, obscuring the depth of the canyon. Bare rock faces rise steeply on either side, their textures smoothed by erosion. A few sparse shrubs bend in the direction of the prevailing wind, their leaves flattened against the stems. The horizon blends seamlessly into the overcast sky, leaving only the stark geometry of the road and the raw geology of the mountains visible. A thin trail of dust hovers just above the asphalt where the wind has recently passed.
