Canal Locks Under Overcast Dawn Sky

Soft gray light spills over a complex network of concrete canal locks viewed from directly above. The turn of seasons leaves the surrounding vegetation muted, with bare branches visible along the embankments. Low-hanging clouds obscure the horizon, merging the sky with the gray water in the lock basins. Converging lines of the concrete walls and metal railings guide toward a distant vanishing point beneath the overpass interchange. The wet surfaces of the infrastructure reflect the diffuse sky, creating a monochromatic palette of slate, charcoal, and muted steel. One metal railing edge cuts sharply against the water's surface, defining the boundary between the solid concrete and the still liquid.
