Warm amber lantern light spills across a large ceremonial drum resting on dark, wet stone at the Douala waterfront. The drum's skin displays red and gold patterns while vertical wooden beams frame the view from the side. Clusters of water lilies float on the calm river surface beside the instrument, their petals catching the honeyed glow of the setting sun. Monsoon moisture coats the stones, creating slick, dark reflections of the warm light. Deep shadows pool between the drum's carved staves as the water ripples gently against the riverbank. A small drop of water slides down the polished rim of the drum, marking the edge of the wet surface.
