Cave House Interior in Cappadocian Rock Formation

by Yuki Cortes

Soft, overcast light fills a wide passageway carved directly into the porous, beige volcanic tuff of a Cappadocian fairy chimney. The rough, pitted texture of the stone defines the curved walls and low ceiling, creating a sheltered interior space. Deep shadows pool in the corners where the rock meets the floor, while a faint glow from the opening marks the pre-dawn stillness. Dramatic clouds hang low against a pale sky, visible through the wide aperture at the far end of the room. The cool stone surface rests solid and ancient along the base of the walls. A narrow ledge carved into the rock wall holds a small, dark bowl resting in the dust at the edge of the light.
