Cappadocian Cave Home Under Glass Roof in inside a glass-roofed arcade in Nevşehir

Cappadocian Cave Home Under Glass Roof

by Katrina Ochoa

Rough, honey-colored tufa walls define the interior of a whitewashed cave house carved directly into the rock. The structure sits beneath a modern glass-roofed arcade in Nevşehir, where the warm glow of string lights hangs in gentle arcs against the cool indigo twilight. Late autumn light falls through the glass, casting soft shadows across the smooth, plastered surfaces and the uneven texture of the natural stone. A wooden door frame anchors the scene, its grain visible against the pale plaster. The glass panels above reflect the deep blue of the evening sky, against the earthy tones of the carved dwelling. One string of bulbs rests near the ceiling, illuminating the dust motes in the still air.
