Dappled green light fractures across the water, illuminating a school of batfish as they orbit a thick mooring line draped with encrusting coral. The scene sits beneath a reef ledge in tropical shallows, where the water remains exceptionally clear despite the late afternoon sun filtering through slow-moving surface ripples. Each fish displays a flat, diamond-shaped body with pale grey fins edged in subtle orange, their movements synchronized in a drifting circle. The mooring line is heavy with textured growths of soft coral and algae, anchoring the group in the current. Small particles of plankton float in the suspended green light, catching the shimmering reflections that dance over the fish scales and the rough, barnacle-studded surface of the rope.
