Amber-Eyed Ibis in Twilight Meadow Grass in beside a tidal inlet near Nyala

Amber-Eyed Ibis in Twilight Meadow Grass

by Greg Huff

Cool season light reflects off the tidal inlet near Nyala, illuminating a solitary ibis standing in tall, damp meadow grass. The bird's plumage appears dark and dense against the soft green and brown stalks, while its eyes glow with a distinct amber hue in the low, reflected light. Shallow depth of field blurs the background water and distant reeds, isolating the bird's sharp profile. Every feather edge is crisp, and the grass blades near its legs are wet with recent storm moisture. The bird's neck is slightly arched, holding a rigid, alert posture as it scans the water's edge. A final drop of water rests on the tip of a nearby grass blade, catching the fading twilight glow.
