Hovering Kestrel Over Autumn Meadow at Dusk

Copper-toned light washes over a wind-scoured ridge near Tverskaya, Moscow, where a kestrel hovers in mid-air. The bird's wings beat rapidly, blurring slightly against the pale sky. Below, dry grasses sway in the cold wind, their golden and brown stalks marking peak autumn. Flakes of snow drift downward, catching the fading light as they fall across the meadow. The background dissolves into soft, out-of-focus greens and grays, isolating the raptor's intense focus. Every feather on the bird's back catches the last glow of the day, against the white specks of snow settling on the earth.
