Scarlet Ibis Amid Bent Grasses After Rain
Vivid scarlet feathers gleam against a backdrop of wet, dark green grasses bent low by the recent downpour. The bird stands alert near the forest edge beside a tidal inlet, its crimson plumage saturated and dripping with moisture. Soft, diffused light from the overcast sky eliminates harsh shadows, revealing the texture of water clinging to individual blades. Fine sea spray hangs in the air, blurring the distant tree line slightly. The ground is a patchwork of mud and standing water reflecting the gray sky.
