Osprey Plunges Into Lake At Cuban Twilight

Deep indigo water fills the lower frame as an osprey dives talons-first, its wings swept back against the fading light. The bird's white head and dark eye stripe stand out sharply against the cool season sky, which remains perfectly clear of clouds. Along the horizon, a distant town glows with warm orange and yellow windows, contrasting the cool blues of the twilight air. Ripples spread rapidly from the impact point where the talons break the surface, sending tiny droplets into the still air. The bird's dark brown feathers appear dense and wet, while the water reflects the soft, diminishing natural light. One splash of water rests on the leading edge of the left wingtip.
