African Fish Eagle on Dead Tree in Cotswolds

Orange low-angle light washes over a gnarled, leafless branch where an African fish eagle perches in late summer. The bird’s white head and chest contrast sharply with its dark brown wings as it tilts its beak upward, mouth open in a call. A thin layer of light fog softens the background, obscuring the distant Cotswold stone walls and rolling fields. The rough, gray bark of the dead tree shows deep fissures and weathering under the copper-toned glow. Below, the grassy slope fades into the mist, at the base of the scene in a quiet, elemental stillness. The eagle’s sharp talons grip the wood firmly, casting a short, dark shadow across the bark.
