Harpy Eagle Perched in Evening Blue Light
by Judith Khan
Deep indigo twilight washes the landscape near Gliwice as a massive harpy eagle rests on a weathered wooden post. The bird's dark grey plumage absorbs the fading sky while its white chest catches a sharp glint of reflected light from a nearby water surface. A rough wooden fence rail creates a natural frame around the silhouette, isolating the predator against the clear, cloudless horizon. Dry grasses at the base of the post show the first signs of autumn frost, turning golden-brown in the low angle. The eagle's talons grip the wood firmly, and the reflection on the water below creates a fractured, shimmering path of light that runs directly to the bird's still form. The texture of the feathers appears dense and layered against the smooth, cold metal of the fence bracket.
