Abandoned Ferry Terminal with Collapsed Gangways in on a wind-open causeway in Mississippi

Abandoned Ferry Terminal with Collapsed Gangways

by Phillip Wall

Rust-red steel beams lie broken across the dark, still water of a Mississippi causeway. The main walkway has collapsed, its jagged ends dipping into the black river below. Deep shadows swallow the terminal structure, while a sharp rim of light traces the upper edges of the metal framework against the twilight sky. Distant city lights begin to glow in soft orange and white dots on the horizon, against the cool blue tones of the water. The air appears thick and heavy, suggesting recent rain has left the metal surfaces slick with moisture. The scene is framed with the main structural wreckage occupying the left third, leading toward the open water and the distant urban glow on the right.
