Starry Sky Through Shipwreck Ribs at Sunset in beside a tidal inlet in the Nile Delta

Starry Sky Through Shipwreck Ribs at Sunset

by Wendy Quinn

Rich amber sunset light floods the interior of a decaying shipwreck resting beside a tidal inlet in the Nile Delta. The skeletal ribs of the hull stand as dark, weathered arches against a sky transitioning from orange to deep indigo. Early autumn fog hangs low over the water, softening the distant reeds and dampening the horizon. Above, the first stars emerge clearly through the gaps between the rusted metal beams. The texture of the corroded iron contrasts with the smooth, glassy surface of the stagnant water lapping against the wreck's base. One star glints directly through the highest curved rib, framing the celestial view within the broken architecture.
