Thick white mist clings to a wind-cut ridge, partially obscuring the dark, shaggy coats of yaks as they move in a single file line. Bright open daylight breaks through the haze, illuminating the coarse texture of their fur and the heavy leather halters. Above the caravan, rows of colorful prayer flags flutter against the gray sky, their vibrant reds, blues, and yellows standing out against the muted landscape. The ground beneath the hooves is a mix of dry grass and loose scree, scattered with patches of early autumn frost. The animals move steadily upward, their breath visible in the cold air, showing determined progress through the low-hanging clouds. A cluster of prayer flags hangs low, brushing the back of the lead yak's shoulder.
