Yak Caravan Descending Ridge Near Shimla at Twilight in on a wind-cut ridge below prayer flag lines near Shimla

Yak Caravan Descending Ridge Near Shimla at Twilight

by Grayson Wong

Cool blue twilight washes a wind-cut ridge where a line of yaks descends below strung prayer flags. The animals move in single file against the fading light, their thick dark fur catching faint reflections on the wet, muddy ground. Vibrant prayer flags in red, blue, yellow, green, and white snap violently in the strong wind, creating a rhythmic blur of color above the caravan. Below, the valley floor begins to show the first warm points of city lights from Shimla, against the cool sky. The ground surface is slick and uneven, mirroring the sky and the moving yaks in a distorted, playful reflection that splits the frame horizontally. A final strip of green grass peeks through the mud near the front hoof of the leading yak.
