Winter Tide Lines on Yorkshire Bridge Pier

Rough concrete and steel supports rise from the water, marked by distinct horizontal bands of dried salt and clusters of grey mussels clinging to the submerged sections. The early evening light strikes the vertical surfaces with a hard, angular quality, casting deep shadows between the structural beams. Distant town glow paints the horizon in faint orange and yellow hues, against the cool blue-grey of the wet stone. Converging lines of the viaduct frame the view toward a vanishing point, showing the scale of the infrastructure. The air appears to shimmer slightly above the metal cables and transformers, suggesting a subtle heat or vibration against the damp, monsoon-drenched environment. One mussel shell reflects the distant city lights on its curved edge.
