Rusted Drawbridge Raised Over Water in Ceará

Bright, dry mountain light floods the midday sky, illuminating a massive steel drawbridge locked in its vertical raised position. The structure stands beside a concrete pier, its surface a mosaic of deep orange rust and flaking gray paint that reveals decades of exposure to the harsh coastal air. Below, the water moves with visible speed, churning white foam against the dark stone supports. Heavy cables stretch taut from the bridge deck to the transformers, vibrating slightly in the heat haze that shimmers off the metal. Leading lines formed by the bridge's beams and the pier's edge guide the gaze toward the horizon where the clear blue meets the distant, hazy coastline. at the edge shows a single rusted bolt head catching the sun at the edge of a steel plate.
