Sugar Mill Chimney Over Tangled Cane in Singapore

Soft, overcast light falls through a pale morning fog, wrapping the weathered brick chimney of an abandoned sugar mill. The structure rises starkly from a courtyard where thick, tangled cane stalks have reclaimed the stone floor. Faint geometric patterns of the ruined ceremonial court frame the base, their edges softened by creeping vines. Cool season air hangs heavy, blurring the distant horizon while the chimney's rough texture remains sharp against the grey sky. Leading lines of cracked pavement guide the gaze upward, showing the verticality of the decay. Moss patches rest on the lower brickwork, against the rust-colored cane leaves scattered across the ground. One shadow stretches long across the wet stone near the chimney's foundation.
