Virga Trailing from Cloud Over Dry Canyon
Tropical bright light floods a New Mexican plain during the dry season, illuminating a dramatic sky where heavy clouds hang low. Streaks of virga trail downward from the cloud base, dissolving into the heat haze before touching the arid earth. The landscape below is a patchwork of dusty ochre and faded green scrub, stretching toward the deep shadows of a distant canyon rim. A diagonal line formed by the cloud edge and the canyon slope creates visual tension across the frame. The dry atmosphere allows the precipitation streaks to remain distinct against the blue sky, while the canyon walls rise steeply, their textures sharp and unsoftened by moisture. at the edge is the faint, ghostly gray of the falling rain vanishing just inches above the sun-baked ground.
