Fog Rolling Through Canyon at Night in through low marine fog in Mexico

Fog Rolling Through Canyon at Night

by Lacey Stuart

Deep shadow blankets the canyon floor as a thick bank of marine fog drifts horizontally across the landscape under a night sky. The fog moves with precise, layered momentum, its white mass pressing against the dark, textured walls of the rock formation. Above, dramatic clouds swirl in the darkness, catching faint rim light that traces their upper edges. The dry season leaves the canyon surfaces exposed and dusty, against the cool, fluid motion of the vapor. From a high vantage point, the scene reveals the vast spatial relationship between the heavy clouds and the rolling mist below. A distinct line of shadow separates the illuminated cloud tops from the deep void of the canyon floor.
