Dawn Light Over Cable Stayed Bridge and Levee Road
by Joy Higgins
Pale morning haze settles over a concrete levee road stretching beneath the steel span of a cable-stayed bridge in British Columbia. The scene opens with a close-up of weathered asphalt texture, leading the eye along the road's surface as it converges toward a distant vanishing point. Tall steel pylons rise vertically, their gray surfaces catching the soft, diffused glow of early summer dawn. Thin suspension cables fan out in precise geometric lines, disappearing into the mist that rests on the harbor basin beyond. Vibrating air seems to ripple around industrial transformers and metal frameworks, blurring the sharp edges of the machinery. The light remains cool and even, highlighting the rough grain of the concrete barriers against the smooth, dark water in the background. A final shadow stretches across the road, marking the exact boundary between the solid infrastructure and the soft, pale sky.
