Stone Colonnade in Dawn Light in inside a vaulted atrium in Jalgaon

Stone Colonnade in Dawn Light

by Natalie Sharpe

Heavy stone columns rise within the vaulted atrium of a Jalgaon building, their rough surfaces absorbing the deep shadows of early morning. First light cuts across the space, carving sharp rim highlights along the edges of the masonry and the broad leaves of plane trees that cast intricate shadows against the walls. The rainy season leaves the stone damp, darkening the texture of the blocks while the clear sky outside allows a singular beam of pale blue light to slice through the gloom. Fierce determination anchors the stillness as the rigid geometry of the colonnade stands against the organic spread of the foliage. A wet droplet rests on the bottom edge of a stone block, catching the faint glow of the rising sun.
