Split Cocoa Pod with Dual Staircase on Fern Floor

Soft afternoon light falls through the canopy, illuminating a split cocoa pod resting on a bed of damp, emerald ferns near Exeter. The pod's rough, reddish-brown husk reveals rows of white beans glistening with midsummer rain. From the center of the pod, a wooden staircase emerges, its steps spiraling both upward into the mist and downward into the moss simultaneously. The wood grain is sharp against the soft, blurred background of receding fern layers. A fine mist rests on the air, catching the light on the staircase's railings. The impossible structure blends seamlessly with the organic texture of the forest floor, its geometry defying gravity while the wet leaves press flat against the earth. one drop of water hangs from the tip of a fern frond near the stairs.
