Spillway Toe Frothing Against Boulders at Sunrise in along a dam spillway near Jamalpur

Spillway Toe Frothing Against Boulders at Sunrise

by Kevin Herman

Early morning light breaks over the concrete spillway toe near Jamalpur, casting sharp golden highlights on churning white water. A heavy release creates a violent, frothy surge that crashes against massive, moss-slicked boulders arranged in perfect symmetrical rows. Mist rises from the impact zone, catching the first rays of sunrise to form a soft, glowing haze. Raindrops from a brief sun shower streak through the air, landing on the wet stone surfaces and creating dark, glistening patches. The water's texture shifts from smooth grey flow to chaotic foam as it meets the rocks. Deep shadows pool beneath the boulders, against the bright, wet spray. One droplet hangs suspended on the edge of a jagged stone before falling back into the churning pool below.
