Silhouetted Termite Mound Gambia Tidal Inlet
Steel-blue ambient light washes the Gambian savanna as city lights begin to glow on the distant horizon. A massive termite mound rises from the tall grasses, its rough, earthen texture stark against the fading sky. The structure stands silhouetted, its jagged crown breaking the flat line of the tidal inlet. Leaves skitter across the foreground where dry stalks brush the ground, caught in a sudden gust. The grass bends under the weight of the wind, creating a rippling texture at the base of the mound. Shadows stretch long and thin across the wet mudflats near the water's edge, marking the turn of the season. The stillness of the mound contrasts with the movement of the dry vegetation. A final streak of orange light reflects off a small pool of water near the mound's foundation.
