Rotting Boathouse Slipway Winter Lake Near Shanghai
Rain-slicked planks of a dilapidated boathouse slipway fracture and sink into the dark, still water of a lake near Shanghai. The structure stands in early evening shadows, its timber grey and softened by winter decay. A brief sun shower breaks the overcast sky, sending vertical streaks of light across the wet surface. Reflected light from the lake illuminates the underside of the rotting beams, highlighting the rough, splintered texture of the wood. Moss rests on the damp stones at the water's edge, while the sky above remains a heavy sheet of grey. at the edge is a jagged shard of broken timber floating just beneath the surface, caught in the ripple of falling rain.
