Midsummer sunlight reflects off a distant water body, illuminating the weathered timber frame of a collapsed carriage house perched on a wind-scoured ridge near Chongqing. Inside the open structure, a rotting horse cart lies abandoned, its wooden wheels split and splintered by years of exposure. The cart's metal fittings are rusted orange, against the grey, peeling paint of the surrounding walls. Wind whips dust and loose straw across the floorboards, lifting the dried remnants of hay from the cart's manger. The scene shows the raw elemental energy of nature reclaiming man-made objects. Deep shadows pool in the corners where the roof has caved in, while bright highlights dance on the wet, reflective surfaces of the cart's metal traces.
