Wet Pier Railing and Sky Reflection

Broad skylight floods the interior space, bouncing off pale walls to create a soft, diffused glow. A metal expansion joint cart sits centered against a pier railing, its industrial surfaces catching the dampness of the monsoon season. The ground beneath is slick with water, mirroring the gray sky above in a distorted, shimmering sheet. Warm interior shadows pool around the base of the cart, against the cool, wet sheen of the floor. Water droplets rest on the metal edges, while the reflection of the sky stretches across the wet concrete, breaking apart near the cart's wheels. One streak of rust runs along the lower frame.
