Milky Way Reflection in Flooded Rice Paddy Night in near Kuala Lumpur

Milky Way Reflection in Flooded Rice Paddy Night

by Chris Tyler

Silver starlight spills across the dark surface of a flooded rice paddy near Kuala Lumpur, turning the water into a perfect mirror for the Milky Way. Tall, slender stalks of rice emerge from the deep water, their green blades catching the faint celestial glow. The sky above is a vast, ink-black canvas densely packed with the galaxy's luminous band, stretching from horizon to horizon. The water remains motionless, creating a seamless symmetry where the stars and the earth appear to touch. Shadows from the rice plants fall sharply onto the wet soil, at the base of the ethereal light in the tangible mud. One bright star reflects directly beside a curved rice leaf, anchoring the infinite sky to the small, wet earth.
