Rajasthani Haveli Mirror Facade North Korea

by Gabriela Bailey

Orange low-angle sunlight washes over a weathered stone wall, casting long shadows across the rough masonry of a North Korean fortress. Against this rugged backdrop stands a structure featuring intricate mirror-work panels that catch the fading daylight. The glass fragments reflect the clear sky and the adjacent stone, creating a fragmented mosaic of light and color. Midsummer heat shimmers slightly above the ground, distorting the reflection of the stone blocks. The smooth, cool surfaces of the mirrors contrast sharply with the coarse, sun-baked texture of the fortress wall. A cluster of small, silver-tiled squares sits flush against the ancient stone, their edges gleaming with the last light of the day.
