Crumbling Stone Farmhouse Ruin at Blue Hour in beneath a broken stone arch near Pyongyang

Crumbling Stone Farmhouse Ruin at Blue Hour

by Lucas Talley

One standing wall of a stone farmhouse remains beneath a broken stone arch near Pyongyang, marking the site of a former dwelling. The structure is reduced to a fireplace wall with crumbling mortar and exposed rough-hewn stones. Blue hour light washes the scene in deep shadow, while a faint rim light defines the jagged top edge of the masonry against the darkening sky. Early autumn wind stirs a few dry leaves on a shrub visible at the frame's edge, suggesting recent movement. The wide panoramic view shows the functional cause-and-effect of decay, showing how the roof has long since collapsed, leaving the hearth as the only survivor. The texture of the weathered stone catches the last ambient glow, showing the weight of the remaining structure.
