Purple Lupins and Ferns on PEI Forest Floor

Heavy grey clouds hang low over a field of purple and pink lupins blooming among green ferns on Prince Edward Island. Midday light diffuses evenly across the damp forest floor, eliminating sharp shadows. Puddles of standing water beside the plants reflect the overcast sky and the soft hues of the flower spikes. Fern fronds curl around the base of the stems, creating a textured layer of deep green against the pastel blooms. Wet sheen covers the leaves, and the water surface ripples slightly near the flower roots. A purple petal rests on a wet fern frond at the edge, its boundary blurred by moisture.
