Lavender Rows Amid Snow in New Brunswick Forest

Rows of purple lavender plants stretch straight toward the horizon, planted on a forest floor carpeted with green ferns. Late morning light falls through the overhead canopy, creating patches of bright illumination and deep shadow across the vegetation. Flakes of snow drift gently downward, settling on the violet flower spikes and the feathery fern fronds. The ground appears damp where the snow has melted slightly against the dark soil. A sharp contrast exists between the orderly agricultural lines and the wild, organic texture of the surrounding woods. Each snowflake rests clearly against the purple petals before vanishing into the earth below.
