Blue and Pink Hydrangea in Monsoon Forest
by Betty Willis
Copper-toned light spills over a dense cluster of hydrangea blooms resting on a forest floor carpeted with green fern fronds. The flower heads display a sharp transition where deep blue petals fade into soft pink edges, a natural shift visible in the wet monsoon air. Fine mist hangs low, softening the background foliage while highlighting the glistening texture of the petals. The amber glow from the setting sun illuminates the water droplets clinging to the ferns, creating a high-contrast interplay between the cool blue tones of the left side of the bush and the warm pink hues on the right. Dark soil and decaying leaves anchor the base of the plant, showing the raw, organic environment of Telangana. One fern frond curves beneath the lowest bloom, its sharp tip pointing toward the muddy ground.
