Oklahoma Theater Ruin in Dawn Rain in through a courtyard reclaimed by grasses in Oklahoma

Oklahoma Theater Ruin in Dawn Rain

by Marilyn Armstrong

Cold silver dawn light washes over the crumbling facade of an abandoned theater, its stone columns fractured by time and weather. Tall grasses reclaim the courtyard, their green blades swaying gently under a steady rain that beads on the peeling paint of the exterior walls. Inside the open stalls, torn velvet curtains hang in ragged strips, their deep red and gold threads matted with moisture. Water streams down the cracked steps, pooling in the depressions of the worn stone. The sky above remains a uniform pale gray, blending with the wet surfaces. One shard of broken glass near the entrance catches the faint morning glow, reflecting the gray of the rain.
