Moorish Tiled Floor in Duékoué Train Terminal

Soft, diffused light from an overcast noon sky washes over a geometric mosaic floor inside a restored train terminal in Duékoué. The tiles form a complex, repeating pattern of interlocking stars and polygons in muted earth tones of ochre, slate, and cream. Narrow grout lines define each shape with precision, creating a rhythmic visual flow that extends toward the distant, shadowed arches of the station. Muted reflections of the overhead structure shimmer faintly on the polished stone surfaces, at the base of the design in the quiet stillness of the space. The turn of seasons leaves the air clear, allowing the subtle textures of the ceramic to remain the sole focus without distraction.
