Monaco Tulip Staircase Copper Mist
by Anne Dawson
Rows of tulips stretch across the frame in distinct bands of crimson, violet, and gold, their petals sharp against a thick, low-hanging mist. The setting is a terrace in Monaco, where the architecture hints at the Mediterranean coast. A surreal staircase dominates the center, its landing acting as a pivot point where two identical flights emerge: one ascending into the copper-toned sky, the other descending into the shadowed garden below. The warm golden hour light bathes the stone in amber, casting long, geometric shadows that overlap strangely where the paths diverge. Each step is lined with blooming flowers that seem to grow from the mortar itself. The impossible geometry creates a visual tension, as the light hits the ascending railing with a bright, electric gleam while the descending side fades into the cool gray of the early autumn fog.
