Soft tungsten light pools across the polished marble floor of a Moscow hotel lobby near Tverskaya, illuminating a stainless steel room service cart laden with dome-covered dishes and a tray jack. A call slip hangs from the handle, fluttering slightly in the stillness. Behind the cart, a landing exists where a staircase simultaneously ascends and descends, the steps folding into a single impossible plane that defies gravity while maintaining sharp architectural clarity. Rain streaks blur the high windows, marking the monsoon season outside. The light settles deep into the corners of the room, highlighting the dust on the brass fittings and the wet sheen on the cart's wheels. A shadow from the ascending steps overlaps the descending ones, creating a jagged geometric edge against the wall.
