Copper Fog Rising on Norbulingka Mountain Face

by Amy Simon

Copper-toned light washes the windward slope where low marine fog begins to gather against the mountain face. Early spring greens peek through patches of lingering frost on the rocky terrain. Dramatic clouds stack heavily in the upper sky, their undersides glowing with the same warm hue as the ground below. The fog rolls upward in soft, dense layers, clinging to the uneven stone surface. Near the base, hints of traditional stonework blend with the natural rock. The light casts long, soft shadows across the undulating landscape, showing the texture of the moss and stone. A final streak of pale gold rests on the highest visible ridge, marking the boundary between the mountain and the heavy clouds above.
