Lightning Striking Thunderhead Over Abidjan City

Electric blue lightning fractures the dark base of a towering thunderhead above Abidjan at midday. The storm light reflects off a wet water surface in the foreground, sending shimmering ripples across the plain. Silhouetted buildings stand in deep shadow against the sudden brightness, their forms sharp and still. Low clouds press against the horizon, marking the turn of the seasons while the city sleeps. Warm tones from the reflected illumination mix with the cool gray of the clearing sky. A final ripple breaks the reflection near the bottom edge, distorting the image of a distant streetlamp.
