Double Exposure Lightning Over Rippled Lake Keelung in beneath fast-moving cloud bands near Keelung

Double Exposure Lightning Over Rippled Lake Keelung

by Arjun Palmer

Tropical midday light floods the surface of a lake near Keelung, where late autumn rain creates a field of tight, shimmering ripples. Dark, fast-moving cloud bands press low over the water, their undersides heavy with moisture. A jagged streak of lightning cuts through the gray sky, its electric blue-white path superimposed directly onto the churning water below. The double exposure merges the storm's violence with the lake's texture, turning the ripples into a network of fractured light. Gray clouds dominate the upper frame, while the lower section explodes with the sharp, unnatural geometry of the discharge against the organic water surface. The final image resolves into a sharp edge where the lightning bolt meets a dark, wet rock at the shoreline.
