Sunlight Pierces Storm Clouds Over Nanning Water
by Duane Gibson
Brilliant shafts of pale gold light burst through a narrow fissure in a heavy ceiling of dark grey thunderheads. Below, the horizon is stacked with dense, rolling storm clouds that dominate the upper frame. The lower section reveals a calm body of water reflecting the dramatic sky. The water surface holds a smooth, glassy texture, mirroring the broken light and the deep indigo shadows of the clouds. Cool season air hangs heavy in the humid atmosphere, visible as a faint, soft haze blurring the distant cloud layers. The light strikes the water at a sharp angle, creating a bright, glowing path that contrasts with the surrounding dark tones. The reflection shows the texture of the clouds inverted, merging the sky and water into a single, continuous visual field.
